Venezuela exodus takes its toll on Colombian economy

More than a million Venezuelans have been living in Colombia, taking a heavy toll on its public services in border regions.

As per a World Bank report, which praises Colombia’s “open arms” policy and its efforts to register the new arrivals, the crisis has cost the country around $1.2bn this year alone. However, the report, submitted on Friday, says, it could be good for Colombia’s economy in the long run.

Al Jazeera’s Alessandro Rampietti has more from the border city of Cucuta.
