Chicago residents reflect on anniversary of 1968 riots

Community activists in the United States are marking 50 years since the infamous Chicago riots.

In 1968, a 10,000-strong protest against the war in Vietnam turned into a day of violence with police.

Amid growing dissatisfaction with the government, the months leading up to the riot had seen racial and political tensions rise.

Many in the city see similarities between then and now.

Al Jazeera’s John Hendren reports.
