France protests: Businesses lose more than $1.5bn

France’s president is expected to address the nation on Monday after the fourth weekend of nationwide protests against high taxes and falling living standards.

It is estimated businesses nationwide have now lost more than $1.5bn in revenue in what for most is one of the most important times of the year in the run-up to Christmas.

Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith reports from Paris.
